FAQs

  • A parent coach is a trained, experienced guide for you and your family. They provide you with information and individualized tools to help make parenting less overwhelming and family life more joyful.

  • Coaching is not therapy. While a therapist helps clients unpack why things are happening and heal past trauma, a parent coach focuses quickly and deeply on what is happening and how to move forward.

  • Yes. Many people do. Coaches and therapists often collaborate to meet the collective needs of the family. As your parent coach I am prepared to coordinate and partner with your child’s therapist if they are under the care of one.

  • Parents find me when they are ready to make real changes to their family dynamic, especially those who feel their toolbox is empty but want to parent with confidence and compassion. Coaching helps parents learn how to deepen and maintain positive relationships with their children at each stage of their development. Parent coaching is also ideal for co-parents who disagree on the best approach for their child, and for parents of blended families looking to forge a united path forward. In a parent coaching model, parents and caregivers become powerful change agents in their family system.

  • For many, parenting is the most humbling and confounding experience of our lives. Guidance from well-meaning relatives, books, and social media is often contradictory and doesn't apply to your real-life situation. To get unstuck, parents find comfort in working with a non-judgmental coach with extensive training in children's social, emotional, cognitive, and educational development as well as expertise in family systems. With proper individualized support, any parent can come to feel confident and competent.

  • We'll begin with me listening and learning so I can get to know your family and the unique challenges you are facing. Next we’ll discuss your hopes for what your family life could be. Our work from that point is a collaborative process. We’ll pinpoint where the day-to-day reality of your family life doesn't match the hopeful vision you established, and put into place tested and effective strategies for navigating those issues, arriving at solutions that feel right to you. In my extensive experience helping families, this approach works. Clients notice a difference in their relationships and approaches after even one session.

  • Participation varies greatly depending on the family structure. I can meet with parents jointly, singly, or a combination of both. All it takes is one committed person to change an entire family system.

Sometimes one parent isn’t quite sold on coaching, but after seeing progress, they often come on board.

  • I am happy to work with any combination of adults committed to the well-being of the extended family. I'm glad to meet with sub-groups separately with buy-in from all parties. If all the grown-ups act like grown-ups, we’re good to go.

  • Sessions are held via Zoom. This allows for parents in different locations to easily attend together.

  • Coaching is not currently covered under any insurance plans. When that changes, I will happily provide documentation for you to submit for reimbursement.

  • All payments are made at the time of the appointment. I accept credit cards via Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, or Paypal. Coaching is not eligible for medical or flex spending accounts (HSA or FSA).

  • Past or paid sessions are not eligible for refunds.
